At Catchafire, we are constantly striving to find new ways to make a positive impact and empower individuals to create change in their communities. That's why we are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Idealist, a platform dedicated to connecting people with opportunities for action. Together, we are bringing in-person volunteering opportunities to Catchafire, providing volunteers with even more ways to make a difference.

Expanding beyond virtual volunteering

While virtual volunteering is a great way for individuals to contribute their skills and time, we recognize that there are many benefits that come from in-person volunteering experiences. Many people enjoy the hands-on aspect of volunteering, being able to directly interact with the community, and see the impact of their efforts firsthand. By offering in-person volunteering opportunities, we are broadening the scope of options available to our volunteers and catering to a more diverse pool of volunteers.

Connecting volunteers with local organizations

Through our partnership with Idealist, we can now connect our community of volunteers with local organizations in need of support. Whether it's helping out at a food bank, tutoring students, or participating in environmental cleanup projects, volunteers now have the opportunity to participate in activities that directly impact their local communities.

In-person volunteering allows individuals to develop personal connections with the causes they care about and make a lasting impact on the lives of others. By sharing current volunteer opportunities, Catchafire and Idealist are empowering individuals to take action and create positive change in their communities.

Corporate benefits

In-person volunteer activities offer a unique opportunity to engage employees in a new way. Research shows that participating in hands-on volunteer work as a group can help employees build relationships with their colleagues.* Additionally, expanding volunteer opportunities is an effective method for increasing employee engagement and promoting retention*.

How it works

When a volunteer visits the project search page, they will have the option to view virtual or in-person opportunities. They can filter in-person volunteer postings by location so that they can view opportunities with local nonprofits. On the project page, volunteers can access the complete details of the project. If they decide to apply, they will be redirected to idealist.org to complete their application.
